Portal Blackout & Upgrades

Hello EMSA Friends,

Just a quick note to advise you all that there were a number of upgrades recently completed on the Soccer Portal and all related servers during the blackout period. The upgrades focused entirely on the backend of the system were aimed to increased performance and long term sustainability of the system.

In the process, we also updated the addresses of the two testing portals as follows…

https://uat.emsasoccerportal.com/
– this version gets its data copied from the live server nightly

https://uat2.emsasoccerportal.com/
– this version will be used to test upgrades and bug fixes

Cheers,
Travis

Age/Community Information – Enhancements

Good Afternoon EMSA Friends!

We have posted to our testing server, upgrades to the Age/Community Information component. This is a significant upgrade that improves the layout and allows for resolution of age bump and transfer requests from the Player Registration Details screen. It also allows for resolution of “tryouts”.

Manage Payments has also seen some upgrades, with some helpful features for managing fees. These are used by tryout resolution and can be helpful on their own.

Please take some time to kick this around on the testing server and send us in any feedback or hiccups you run into.

https://emsa-uat2.bubbleuphosting.ca/ui/

We are planning to roll these changes out as V.67 during the second week of July.

URGENT – Zone Websites & Schedules

It has been found that several zones are changing or trying to change the scheduling pages on the zone websites as a result, this was causing troubles for the portal to properly display the schedules. Changes were made to a few zone websites last night to address and resolve this problem.

Please note that the scheduling pages ARE NOT pages to be edited by the websites administrators, these pages use very specific templates that are required to work with the portal.

Further discussions can be had at a later date about the structure of these pages and how editors could work within the restrictions but at this time, NO CHANGES are to be made.

URGENT – 2018 Outdoor Scheduling Struggles

Because of some resent user error for scheduling in a few zones, we have unfortunately had to make a global change to hide ALL schedules from the public.

At this point we need each zone to go in and manually change their scheduling visibility to NOT VISBLE TO PUBLIC (on each round). This will allow us to globally turn back on the schedules and then we’ll have to work with each zone to confirm the integrity of the schedules before advising that they be turned back on. See below for a screen shot.

We would ask that one person from each zone email our support address when their settings have all be changed and we’ll proceed as planned.

Home Fields Report

Upon request from EMSA Main, we have created a new report that might come in handy for zone scheduling. This report provides a list of all teams in the zone that have a home field set, whether it’s set for the team or the tier.

Version 63 Release Notes

Status: deployed to production on 2017-12-17 at 00:50

  1. Utilities: updated scripts to match file system changes for backups.
  2. Manage Divisions: removed Field Allocation Strategy field from Copy to New Round dialog,
  3. Manage Divisions: removed the field allocation strategy from the Create Round and Edit Round operations.
  4. Manage Divisions: changed text for default field allocation strategy in Division and Tier displays and dialogs.
  5. Edit Seasonal Configurations: added controls to edit discipline email templates
  6. Create/Edit Suspensions: now use configurable email templates
  7. Manage Fees: added ability to clone fees

This release addresses 2 major issues:

  1. Manage Fees: add clone feature.  This feature was added to reduce the time needed to enter fees by using an existing fee as the foundation of a new fee.
  2. Seasonal Configuration: editable suspension templates.  The templates sent when a suspension is created or edited are now configurable by zone, so each zone can supply their own instructions.  The template is determined by looking at the owner of the division the team is currently playing in.  If there are multiple owners (e.g., such as those in the South East/Millwoods Outdoor community program), the first owner of the division, as seen on the Manage Divisions page, is used.

This releases 2 minor issues:

  1. Manage Divisions: remove Field Allocation Strategy (FAS) from Clone Round operation.  FAS is no longer associated with rounds and attempting to set it through the Clone Round operation resulted in a server error.  It has been removed to reduce confusion.
  2. The scripts used to backup the database and site were modified to better integrate with BubbleUp’s long-term backup system.
